VOIP calling in CxC lets you join any call from a regular phone line. When internet is spotty — or when you just want a more reliable audio connection — you dial in using a number and PIN instead of joining through the app.
⚙ Setting Up VOIP — Adding Your Phone Number
Before you can use VOIP calling, you need to authorize your phone number in CxC.
Go to Settings → Profile
Find the VOIP or Phone Number section
Enter your phone number
Your number is now authorized for VOIP dial-in
You only need to do this once. Once your number is added, you're ready to dial in to any CxC call.
📲 How to Join a Call by Dialing In
When someone starts a call in CxC and you want to join by phone:
Open the call in CxC
Look for the dial-in number and PIN code displayed on the call screen
Call the dial-in number from your phone
Enter the PIN code when prompted
You're in the call
You don't need a data connection to do this. As long as you have cell service, you can join.
💡 When to Use VOIP Dial-In
Poor signal in the field
If a tech is in a basement, rural area, or anywhere with weak data, they can still join a call by dialing in from their cell signal instead of relying on the app.
Unstable internet connection
If your WiFi or mobile data is cutting in and out, dialing in gives you a stable audio connection that doesn't drop.
App unavailable
If for any reason the CxC app isn't accessible, the dial-in number and PIN are all you need to stay connected to the call.
Hands-free in the truck
Techs driving between jobs can dial in and join a call hands-free without looking at their phone.
📶 When to Dial In vs. Use the App
If a tech has poor data coverage, they should dial in manually using the phone number and PIN rather than joining through the app. In this case the connection is mixed — one person is on their cell network and the other is connecting over the internet. This is normal and expected.
If both participants have poor connectivity, both can dial in from their phones. When both sides are on a dial-in connection, the call runs entirely over the cell network and is significantly less likely to drop.
❓ FAQ
Where do I find the dial-in number and PIN?
They're displayed on the active call screen inside CxC. Open the call and look for the dial-in details before you leave the app.
Do I need to add my phone number every time?
No. Once you verify your number in Settings, it stays authorized. You don't need to re-add it.
Can I switch from app audio to dial-in mid-call?
Yes. Call the dial-in number and enter the PIN while the call is active and you'll be connected. You can then disconnect from the app audio if needed.
What if I don't have the PIN?
The PIN is only visible inside the CxC app on the active call screen. If you've already left the app, ask another participant in the call to share it with you.
